About the role

  • Glacier Fish Company is hiring for Processors to work onboard the F/T ALASKA OCEAN.
  • The Alaska Ocean is an at-sea processing vessel in the Bering Sea, along the Aleutian Islands, and the coast of Washington/Oregon.
  • The Alaska Ocean is the world's largest factory trawler.

Requirements

  • 2+ years commercial fishing OR
  • 1+ year of experience performing physical work
  • Must be able to perform fast paced, repetitive tasks for long periods of time
  • Must be capable of understanding and following specific English written, oral and visual directions and instructions in the event of emergency.
  • Must be capable of working and living on board a vessel for extended periods of time
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Skills

  • Knowledge of factory trawler operations and conditions preferred.
  • Able to work 16 hour shifts, 7 days a week
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. repetitively
  • Must be able to work in a cold and wet environment for extended period of time
  • Must be capable of boarding and exiting a vessel without assistance by climbing up or down gangplank, or by using a Jacob's ladder.
  • Must adhere to all safety and quality policies and regulations of the vessel and company.
  • Must be able to share room assignments and bathroom facilities and eat in common dining areas with other crew
