About the role

  • Youth Villages' residential programs in Tennessee and Georgia provide safe, nurturing environments for youth ages 6 to 17 with complex behavioral and mental health challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains progress notes, attendance records, classroom grades, and testing scores

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (required)
  • Experience working in a school setting (required)
  • Applicants are required to co mplete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR trainings and pass an agility and strength evaluation.
  • Enrollment in Teacher Education Program (required)
  • Experience as a lead teacher (preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal, and oral skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule
  • Medical, Dental, Prescription Drug Coverage and Vision
  • 401(k)

Nice to have

  • Experience working with youth with severe emotion al and behavioral needs (preferred)

Skills

  • Plans for individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and other skills
  • Participates in trainings, boosters, and in-service activities
  • Administers testing and interprets results to determine academic needs
  • Produces lesson plans that reflect the individual educational needs of students
  • Writes Individual Education Plans (IEP) as needed
  • Prepares reports in compliance with school guidelines
  • Completes daily documentation (such as contact notes, milieu notes, and precautionary notes) in an electronic medical record system (EMR)
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Compensation

  • $52,000 - $53,000 per year based on education
  • 12 paid sick days per year
