Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Respond promptly to instrument malfunctions, and (as appropriate to the situation) perform repairs, assist technicians with routine repair tasks, or set up service calls with manufacturers service representatives for malfunctioning instruments.
  • Perform periodic, routine maintenance for assigned laboratory instruments in accordance with manufacturers recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records on maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain adequate spare parts for instrument repair.
  • Develop and maintain trouble-shooting guides to assist lab technicians in addressing minor malfunctions.
  • Perform other routine and non-routine tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Laboratory Quality Control Supervisor

Requirements

  • A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.
  • Maintain ISO-required documentation and records.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Proficient organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Clear communication skills (oral and written).
  • Proficient basic mathematics and computer software skills (especially Microsoft Excel and Access).
  • Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in science or other quantitative discipline preferred.
  • Related practical laboratory experience preferred.
