About the role

  • As we continue to scale, we're strengthening our App Platform team.
  • As a Staff Frontend Engineer on the App Platform team, you will play a leading technical role in shaping our web platform at GlossGenius.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and drive the development of scalable, reusable frontend components and shared libraries that power GlossGenius web applications.
  • Define and lead the long-term technical direction of our web platform, including framework decisions, architecture patterns, and developer experience.
  • Partner closely with product managers, designers, and engineering teams across the org to align on and deliver a cohesive, high-quality web experience.
  • Set the standard for frontend best practices - including code quality, accessibility, performance optimization, and design system consistency - and actively raise the bar across engineering.
  • Own and drive improvements to frontend tooling, build pipelines, and developer workflows to increase velocity across engineering teams.
  • Identify systemic problems and proactively propose and implement solutions that have broad impact across multiple teams.
  • This team is foundational to everything we build - from enabling developer velocity to ensuring web reliability and performance at scale.
  • We also believe AI is a force multiplier for great engineering, and we're actively embedding AI-powered tooling and practices into how we build and ship software.
  • Our scope includes shared UI frameworks, component libraries, tooling, and release infrastructure - we are building the platform that product teams rely on to deliver value.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional frontend engineering experience, with a strong focus on web, and a track record of leading high-impact technical work.
  • Deep expertise in React and JavaScript, with a strong command of modern frontend architecture and patterns.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript, CSS-in-JS, and responsive/adaptive design principles.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Cursor, GitHub Copilot) and a genuine enthusiasm for using AI to accelerate engineering productivity.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, driving projects from ambiguous problem statements to polished, production-ready solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence technical direction and align stakeholders across teams.
  • You must be commutable to our NYC or SF headquarters.
  • We default to being in-office 3-4 days per week with required attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with React Native or cross-platform mobile development is a plus, but not required.

  • The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
