About the role

Initial rank will be consistent with qualifications and experience.
PhD in Portuguese, Comparative Literature, or a related field will be considered if the candidate can fulfill the duties/expectations of the position.

All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
All faculty are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience teaching Spanish courses at the university level and performing scholarly research.
Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English is also required.
The ability to teach Portuguese literature/culture classes is also highly valued, although not required.

This professorial position has a course-load of 3-2-1 (18 credit-hours per year).
Teach six courses per year. These include a variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Introduction to Hispanic Literature, Cultures of Spain and Spanish America, and/or other courses, depending on expertise.
