About the role

  • Our The Points Guy team is looking for a Senior Data Engineer.
  • Our data engineering tech stack is primarily AWS and Spark/SparkSQL/Python via Databricks, though we welcome strong applicants from a wide variety of technical backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and infrastructure in Databricks and AWS (S3, EC2, Lambda, etc.).
  • Build high impact data products - Develop scalable, well tested data models that drive lifetime value, churn, and propensity insights powering RV sites and CRM activations.
  • Engineer reliable data pipelines - Implement Python/Spark jobs, dbt transformations, and Orchestration with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Terraform).
  • Partner with analytics and product teams to translate business needs into scalable data models and solutions.
  • Implement and promote best practices in data architecture, security, observability, and governance.
  • Collaborate with data stakeholders on privacy-safe data sharing solutions, including clean-room environments and other secure data exchange methods.
  • Cloud & big data platforms - 5+ years designing and developing on AWS and Databricks data lake and lakehouse architectures
  • Build high impact data products
  • Develop scalable, well tested data models that drive lifetime value, churn, and propensity insights powering RV sites and CRM activations.
  • Implement Python/Spark jobs, dbt transformations, and Orchestration with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Terraform).

Requirements

  • Soft skills - Proven ability to translate technical concepts to non technical audiences

Nice to have

  • Experience modernizing or migrating large-scale data environments to Databricks or AWS.
  • Familiarity with data governance, cataloging, and access-control frameworks.
  • Proven success influencing technical direction and driving adoption of best practices across teams.

Compensation

  • Total Cash Compensation Range: $100,000 - $182,500 per year
  • New York City Total Cash Compensation Range: $125,000 - $228,125 per year
  • Actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and qualifications.
