  • Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technician is responsible for her/his assigned procedures.
  • Background Check Northwestern Medicine conducts a background check that includes criminal history on newly hired team members and, at times, internal transfers.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews daily assignment to maintain supply inventory on specialty carts.
  • Maintains and is responsible for counts of instruments, sponges, needles and miscellaneous items with the R.N.
  • Maintains aseptic technique throughout procedure.
  • Maintains readiness for emergencies and the need to assist the surgeon, if necessary, until additional help can be obtained.
