About the role
- The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for overseeing and performing sterile and non-sterile compounding in compliance with USP 795, 797, and 800 standards, state board regulations, and federal guidelines.
- This role ensures the safe, accurate, and efficient preparation of customized medications while maintaining the highest standards of quality assurance, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
- This position also plays a key role in workflow management, staff supervision, documentation review, and continuous process improvement within the compounding environment.
Responsibilities
- Policy Implementation: Develop, maintain, and implement policies and procedures that comply with state and federal pharmaceutical regulations.
- Team Leadership: Hire, train, and supervise pharmacy technicians to build a high-performing team.
- Product Development Collaboration: Partner with new product development teams to align the production of sterile compounds with patient demand.
- Inventory Management: Process prescriptions, maintain inventory levels, and manage vendor relationships to optimize costs and efficiency.
- Mail Order Delivery: Perform all stages of the prescription fulfillment workflow including data entry, PV1 (first pharmacist verification), dispensing, PV2 (final pharmacist verification), and shipping/packaging to ensure accurate and timely delivery of medications to patients.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- Required Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
- Required active and in-good-standing Florida Pharmacist license.
- Experience in launching and managing new pharmacy facilities, including construction and vendor management.
- Experience with facility oversight of sterile compounding operations and maintaining compliance with USP 795, 797, and 800 standards.
