About the role

  • Assistant Professor of Sculpture and Ceramics
  • The Digital Media and Visual Arts Department at Frostburg State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in studio art with expertise in sculpture and ceramics.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced courses in ceramics and sculpture, with the possibility of additional assignments such as Senior Portfolio, Art Appreciation, and 3-D Design, and will have the potential to develop courses in their area of expertise.

Requirements

  • Experience with operating all facets of a ceramics studio, including kilns and glaze chemistry.
  • Experience with operating all facets of a sculpture studio, including woodshop, metal fabrication, mold-making and casting materials (latex, paper, plaster).
  • Candidates should demonstrate a strong interdisciplinary creative practice and the ability to teach a broad range of approaches, including 3D Foundations.

Nice to have

  • Strong record of creative practice in at least one of the teaching fields.
  • Demonstrated competencies in a variety of teaching methodologies and/or pedagogical approaches that reach a broad range of learners.
  • More than 4,000 students enroll yearly.
