About the role
- Working closely with the Communications team and colleagues across ITK, the Coordinator helps ensure communications are clear, engaging, and reflective of Inuit perspectives and priorities.
- Assist with coordinating communications deliverables, ensuring timelines and approvals are met.
- Track and monitor communications activities, flagging issues or delays as needed.
Responsibilities
- This role provides hands-on support across a range of communications functions, including writing, social media, and event logistics.
- Support the implementation of communications plans and activities aligned with ITK priorities.
- Support content updates across digital platforms, including website and social media channels.
- Support media activities, including interview coordination and logistics
- Liaise with internal teams and external partners to support event delivery.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- Experience supporting communications activities, events, or campaigns is an asset.
- Experience working with Inuit or Indigenous organizations is an asset.
- Degree or diploma in Communications, Journalism, Indigenous Studies, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Must be committed to ITK's mandate and sensitivity to Inuit culture and perspectives.
Skills
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt content for different audiences and platforms
- Understanding of Inuit Nunangat, Inuit history, and Inuit governance structures
- Familiarity with media relations, social media platforms, and event coordination
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, WordPress, and social media tools
