About the role

  • This position reports into the site every day.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that programmers are properly utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software to select the appropriate cutting tools and speeds/feeds for a variety of material types in order to create CNC programs and instructions used to run a CNC machine
  • Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to determine the appropriate machine tool, work holding and cutter selection, machine speeds, and feed rates
  • Coordinate with design engineering on best practices and designs for machinability
  • Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner to 5S standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 15 + years of experience operating and programming CNC equipment
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word)
  • Good computer skills and advanced proficiency in query ing, monitor ing, and input ting NC machine and system data
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, with the ability to apply mathematical functions
  • Able to keep team members well informed and to draw on other's expertise when required
  • Ability to interpret engineering documentation and write appropriate machine-level instructions, including revisions to existing programs
  • Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others
  • Designs and fabricates fixtures as required and participates in high level project reviews

  • Th ey train CNC programmers and operators and o versee creat ion of computer numerical control ( CNC ) programs for manufacturing components, cutter selection, setup documentation, tooling design and drafting, CNC tooling programs, verification, and shop aid sketches.
  • Lead, Machining is responsible for t roubleshooting the work of all employees within the machine shop that are responsible for the manufacturing of mid - to high - complexity components.

  • Achieve the KPI of on-time deliveries
  • Ensure that earned labor hours align with expected targets
  • Timely/successful training and evaluation of machine shop employees
