About the role

  • Who you are Metropolis is seeking a Director, Assistant Controller to play a key leadership role in the execution of corporate accounting operations.
  • The Assistant Controller is the executional builder - responsible for standing up core accounting processes, leading the close, and operationalizing the Controller's vision.
  • This role is about turning strategy into scalable processes.

Responsibilities

  • Own monthly/quarterly close activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and scalability
  • Design and implement new policies, controls, and workflows (GAAP/IFRS, revenue recognition, consolidations)
  • Drive automation/AI adoption in reconciliations, reporting, and consolidation
  • Build and mentor a growing accounting team, instilling accountability and high performance
  • Work closely with cross-functional leads (Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Operations) to ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and building from ground up

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including team leadership
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvements and leveraging technology/automation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across cultures and geographies
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to transform static workflows into responsive, high-output processes

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Compensation

  • The anticipated base salary for this position is $180,000.00 USD to $225,000.00 USD annually.
