About the role

  • In this role, you will assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles and issuing permits and license plates.
  • We provide the training you need to make decisions using vehicle laws, agency policies and regulations.
  • We provide a safe and reliable multimodal transportation system that connects people and helps Oregon's communities and economy thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Bring your customer service skills to the North Portland DMV, located at 1186 N Hayden Meadows Drive, as a transportation services representative.
  • Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.

Requirements

  • Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data
  • Completion of an associate's degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.
  • You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and dealing with stressful situations.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service.
  • Experience handling multiple assignments and frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy. A typing assessment will be conducted at the time of interview for selected candidates.
  • Driving is an essential function of this position.
  • We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).
  • Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

Compensation

  • Comprehensive and equitable base salary offer within the listed range.
  • Through an equal pay assessment, we will determine the salary offer using the information you provide in your submitted application materials.
  • The salary range listed is the non- PERS monthly salary range.
  • If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, the salary range will increase by 6.95%.
