Requirements
- Protective equipment required as appropriate (e.g., in the isolation ward)
- Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive
- Do you have the compassion and enthusiasm to assist our veterinarians in analyzing disease and performing surgery?
- May be required to drive.
- Must be willing and able to participate on the euthanasia team as required
Compensation
- $21.00 - $33.00 hourly
- Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.

- One year of experience in the care and treatment of animals at a veterinary clinic, animal hospital, or with a public or private agency
- High School Diploma or GED
- Candidates must be flexible and able to work all shifts, including starting as early as 5 am and finishing as late as 7 pm, working weekends and holidays. Employees can be assigned to any shift, with any combination of days off, determined by the Department's needs
- Experience as a veterinary technician at a high-volume spay/neuter clinic or animal shelter
- Completion of a certified curriculum in veterinary technician/assisting
- Participate in high-volume/high-quality surgery at MCACC by restraining animals for pre-operative exams, inducing animals, preparing animals for surgery, monitoring anesthesia, monitoring recovery, and maintaining surgical cleanliness in the surgical suite
- Administer vaccinations and implant microchips into animal
