About the role

  • People plays a critical role in 1X's ability to scale.
  • The People team is responsible for helping 1X scale its workforce, leadership capabilities, and organizational effectiveness as we move from research and development into global production.

  • As the company grows, the team helps strengthen leadership capability, develop organizational effectiveness, support employee growth, and ensure the systems and processes that support our people evolve alongside the business.
  • As a HR People Partner, you will support Manufacturing and Fleet Operations organizations by serving as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees alike.
  • You will help drive organizational effectiveness, strengthen leadership capability, navigate complex employee relations matters, and ensure the company scales responsibly while maintaining the high standards and culture that define 1X.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years managing employee relations matters in California.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, logistics, operations, engineering, or other highly regulated and operationally intensive environments.

Skills

  • HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.
  • Experience supporting organizations transitioning from R&D into manufacturing and production environments.
  • Experience standing up HR programs, policies, and systems within high-growth companies.
  • Background in robotics, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, hardware, or other deep-tech industries.
  • Experience partnering closely with Legal, Compliance, and executive leadership teams on organizational and workforce matters.

Compensation

  • $130,000 - $180,000 per year + Equity

  • Trusted advisor capable of influencing leaders across multiple organizational levels while balancing business and employee needs.
  • Strong understanding of California employment law, compliance requirements, and HR best practices within operational environments.
  • Effective communicator who can build credibility and trust with both hourly and salaried employee populations.
  • Adaptable operator who thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
