About the role

  • This is a platform engineering role, not a traditional DBA position
  • the primary focus is Snowflake platform ownership, with cloud experience a valuable complement.
  • The ideal candidate brings deep Snowflake expertise and a strong engineering mindset with a bias toward automation and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Snowflake cost optimization, utilization tracking, capacity planning, and FinOps practices across the organization;
  • Build automation for platform provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and operational processes using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines;
  • Manage Snowflake security, RBAC, networking, and governance to ensure data integrity, access control, and compliance;
  • Establish and maintain platform monitoring, observability, and production support practices;
  • Partner with engineering teams to address complex performance, scalability, and platform challenges;
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon's policies, procedures and mission statement, and fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success.
  • Own and optimize the Snowflake platform, including compute, performance, scalability, and workload management
  • Inovalon invests in associates to help them stay healthy, save for long-term financial goals, and manage the demands of work and personal commitments.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake platform engineering and administration
  • deep understanding of Snowflake architecture, compute, storage, performance tuning, and workload management required;
  • Experience with Snowflake security, RBAC, networking, and governance;
  • Experience with Snowflake cost optimization, FinOps practices, workload utilization, and capacity management;
  • Experience with Terraform or comparable Infrastructure as Code tooling and CI/CD pipeline management;
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field required.

Nice to have

  • AWS or other cloud platform experience is a plus;
  • Experience supporting AI and ML data workloads and modern Snowflake AI and ML capabilities is a plus;
  • Snowflake certification is a plus.

Skills

  • Strong SQL, troubleshooting, automation and scripting, and production engineering skills;
