About the role

  • You'll work hands-on across the stack, contribute to architectural decisions, and guide product-aligned engineering efforts.
  • You'll also help establish our technical standards, influence hiring, and mentor teammates.
  • This role is ideal for an experienced engineer excited to wear multiple hats-builder, architect, leader-and make foundational contributions to a fast-moving AI product.

  • As a Staff Engineer, you'll define and implement the core systems powering Synquery.

  • Technical Stack: Proficiency in Python (FastAPI), TypeScript (Next.js), PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker. Experience with LLM APIs (GPT, Claude, etc.) and/or vector DBs (e.g., Pinecone) is a big plus.
  • Startup Experience: A dynamic, entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving. Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a "get-it-done" attitude.
  • Problem-Solving: Skilled at designing resilient systems and debugging complex issues in live environments.

Nice to have

  • 7+ years in full-stack software development, ideally with experience in early-stage or high-growth startups.
  • Proficiency in Python (FastAPI), TypeScript (Next.js), PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker.
