About the role

  • This role goes beyond traditional accounting oversight and will actively assess and improve the department across people, process, and technology.
  • This position is expected to evolve over time, with responsibilities shifting as transformation initiatives progress and organizational needs change.

Responsibilities

  • Assess current accounting workflows, controls, and systems to identify inefficiencies and risks; Lead initiatives to streamline processes and reduce manual effort; Design and implement scalable processes to support business growth
  • Evaluate team structure, roles, and skillsets to ensure alignment with future-state needs; Coach and develop team members; Identify training and upskilling opportunities; Foster a culture of accountability, adaptability, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with IT and leadership to implement or optimize ERP and related systems; Drive automation initiatives (e.g., reconciliations, reporting, AP/AR workflows)
  • Support business initiatives by providing accounting guidance and operational insight; Act as a change agent, influencing stakeholders and gaining buy-in for improvements
  • Support the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and the year-end audit

  • Systems & Technology Enablement - Partner with IT and leadership to implement or optimize ERP and related systems; Drive automation initiatives (e.g., reconciliations, reporting, AP/AR workflows)
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Support business initiatives by providing accounting guidance and operational insight; Act as a change agent, influencing stakeholders and gaining buy-in for improvements
  • Analytical Thinking: Able to diagnose issues and design practical solutions

Requirements

  • periodic driving may be required
  • ability to speak and to hear the spoken word in normal face-to-face and telephonic business communications.
  • Occasional overnight travel in a work capacity may be required.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership or manager role
  • Experience in a Big Four public accounting firm, consulting firm, or corporate finance & accounting function preferred
  • Prior experience in process improvement, transformation, or system implementation
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
  • Experience in a Professional Services industry a plus
  • Experience with ERP systems and accounting automation tools
  • proficiency with NetSuite a plus
