About the role

  • Skilled in equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities necessary for the production of parts.
  • Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where creativity and initiative are exercised as well as independent judgment.
  • Will be responsible for a small crew of GM UAW hourly employees.

  • Support human factors consideration.
  • Support efficient material flow.
  • The Paint Process Engineer/Tech Support will work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with paint systems, paint application processes, or troubleshooting automated/robotic paint equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Flexibility to work any shift, including weekends and overtime as required
  • Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high-quality parts.
  • Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
  • Applicants in the recruitment process may be required, where applicable, to successfully complete a role-related assessment(s) and/or a pre-employment screening prior to beginning employment.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience working as a Paint Process Engineer, Paint Equipment Engineer, or Paint Equipment Installer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with paint systems, paint application processes, and troubleshooting automated or robotic paint equipment.
  • Skilled Trades experience with a strong understanding of industrial maintenance, equipment reliability, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail).
  • Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of paint shop processes, including E-coat, primer, basecoat, clearcoat, and paint quality systems.
