  • This is a highly technical role for a player-coach who will contribute directly to the codebase while serving as the go-to technical leader and mentor for the team.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-On Development - Design, build, and maintain backend systems, APIs, and services. Write high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Technical Leadership - Serve as the go-to technical leader for the team, guiding design decisions and setting engineering standards.
  • Mentorship - Mentor and support junior developers, providing guidance, feedback, and technical coaching.
  • Architecture & Design - Contribute to and help shape scalable, secure, and maintainable system architecture.
  • Code Quality - Lead code reviews and promote best practices across the codebase.
  • Problem Solving - Analyze complex technical challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaboration - Partner closely with product, design, and other engineers to deliver features and improvements.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining complex software solutions.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and helps to define the product design.
  • You will partner closely with product and engineering leadership to design and deliver scalable, secure backend systems, while helping guide technical decisions and elevate engineering quality across the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, or equivalent field.
  • 8-12+ years of software engineering experience, with strong backend development expertise.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Skills

  • Expertise with Spring and Hibernate.
  • Experience implementing SSO solutions such as SAML and OpenID.
  • MySQL or other RDBMS.
  • Comfortable working in an agile development process.
  • Must like dogs (they are in the office, everyday).

Compensation

  • The Base Salary range for this position is between $180,000-$220,000.
  • This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location.
  • This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
