About the role
- This position will be focused on property law legal issues, trials and Relativity.

Responsibilities
- The Paralegal is expected to compile, prepare, and summarize relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents
- maintain case files
- perform simple legal research utilizing Westlaw/Lexis
- indexes, tracks and controls document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery).
- This may include coordinating internal DOJ processes and maintain tight organization, reporting and status upon request, updating case/matter classification, identification of data gaps, inconsistencies, or errors and raising them with appropriate supervisors for comment and reconciliation.
- The Paralegal may also index, track and create exhibits and other materials at depositions and at trial
- and review documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria.
- Performs the following tasks while complying with established procedures: compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by DOJ personnel
Requirements
- Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation
- must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research.
- Role also requires basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
- DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required).
- Extensive computer and database expertise (Relativity, MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and MS Word skills).
- What You Can Expect:
- Required:
- Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study. Only the Contracting Officer can approve a waiver of the education requirements.
- Strong organizational skills very helpful.
- Automated litigation support experience valued. Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation
- Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of environmental laws and regulations, data analysis and mathematical ability, competence in Excel and Acrobat, comfortable with computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
- Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
- Desired:
- Trial experience very helpful.
- Automated litigation support experience valued (eDiscovery).
- Property Law experience valued.
Compensation
- There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.

- The proposed salary range for this position is:
- $49,900 - $100,000
