Responsibilities

  • Think you've got what it takes to keep a city moving? 🚧 Our Public Works team is looking for a full-time Streets Worker to help maintain and repair Aurora's streets year-round.
  • Operates and maintains specialized hand and power tools, vehicles, and equipment such as jack hammer, plate and jumping compactors, single axle dump trucks with plow and sander, spot patch/pothole truck.
  • Perform snow and ice control operations to include working with operators from other departments.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
  • The city of Aurora will implement furlough days (unpaid days off) for most employees in 2026.

Requirements

  • Colorado CDL, a proficiency Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Commercial Driver's License pre/post trip inspection will be conducted to include drive demonstration with our trucks when hired.
  • Applicants selected for safety-sensitive positions are required to complete and pass a drug screening as a condition of employment.

Nice to have

  • Prefer experience in public works functions to include power tools and/or light equipment operation.
  • Application of materials per operation to environmental standards
  • Supportive team player with a positive attitude and ability to adapt to change.

Skills

  • Construction/trade skills.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
  • Skilled in the operation light to medium equipment
  • Understand oral and written instructions.
  • Operate various types of maintenance and construction equipment.
  • Ability to respond to an emergency call within 30 minutes.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • Colorado R Driver's License, or Class A or B CDL
  • Ability to obtain Colorado Class B CDL within 6 months if non-CDL.
  • Must obtain ATSSA Colorado Flagger Certification within six (6) months of employment.
  • Must obtain RTD On-Track Safety Training Certification within six (6) months of employment.
