About the role
- Overview The Middlesex County Office of Parks and Recreation seeks an energetic and motivated individual to assist in the management of Open Space parcels throughout Middlesex County.
- The Middlesex County Open Space and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund has preserved over 8000 acres since its inception in 1998.
- The Open Space Steward/ Youth Corps Supervisor will carry out the objectives set forth in the management plans for these parcels.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in the Natural Sciences, Forestry, Conservation, Natural Resources Management, or Park Management, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of local flora & fauna.
- Experience with trail maintenance tools.
- Willingness to work Saturdays as required.
- Experience in natural resource management, environmental education, parks and trail maintenance or related field.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team is necessary.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to operate large vehicles and power tools.
- Pesticide application experience.
Nice to have
- Chainsaw experience preferred.
- First Aid, CPR, Wilderness First Responder training a plus.
- Experience with GIS and Esri products a plus.
Compensation
- $50,953, commensurate with experience
