About the role

  • We are seeking a Sector Specialist to join our Equity Research Department.
  • In this role, you will be a key contributor to the investment process, partnering closely with analysts, associates, and portfolio managers across the division.
  • You will report directly to a Managing Director of Research and play an integral part in driving research insights and supporting portfolio decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Create visualizations of industry trends and analytical results.
  • Partner with global sector specialists, industry sources, Wall Street contacts, and internal teams (data science, technology, market data) to enhance research capabilities.
  • The division consists of portfolio managers, research analysts, research associates, sector specialists, and traders who work together to deliver exceptional investment outcomes.
  • Over the years, its capabilities have grown substantially, with investment strategies designed across style, capitalization, sector, and geography.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 1-2+ years of relevant experience in security investing, financial analysis, accounting, valuation, economics, or statistics.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in finance, investment-related disciplines, hard sciences, mathematics, or CFA designation is a plus.
  • Experience in the real estate sector is preferred but not required.

Skills

  • Strong Excel/VBA skills and a passion for working with data.
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python.
  • Familiarity with financial databases such as Bloomberg and FactSet.
  • Analytical Expertise
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in fundamental security analysis, quantitative methods, and data science.
  • Communication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate research findings.
  • Commitment to rigorous, evidence-based analysis and the integrity of the scientific method.
  • Fidelity's Onsite Working Model
  • Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles.
  • Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less.
  • Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues.

Compensation

  • The base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $175,000 per year.
