About the role
- The Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating assigned aspects of the ALS Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) for Waterloo and associated Service Centres.
Responsibilities
- Lead incident management including investigation, reporting, and follow up;
- Coordinate and maintain contractor management induction, insurance, and documentation;
- Maintain and update SDS records stored on- site;
- Maintain emergency response procedures including scheduling drills and inspections;
- Complete employee fit tests and maintain the respiratory protection program

Nice to have
- Minimum of 1-year experience in a Laboratory environment is preferred;
Skills
- Excellent English communication skills are mandatory (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);
- Strong organizational and leadership skills;
- Ability to speak in public and effectively present information to groups;
- Proven time management skills, including handling escalations and time-critical issues;
- Able to stay current in an ever-changing environment
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with competent computer skills;
- Ability to travel to other ALS locations within Ontario (e.g. service centres) on regular basis
- Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
Compensation
- Work with HSE Manager, Canada Environmental and location managers to implement all new and existing ALS health and safety programs and annual HSE strategies
