About the role

  • This position ensures that drug purchasing activities results in safe, effective, and cost-conscious use of medical and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • The Pharmacy Purchasing Coordinator has coordination, leadership, and stocking duties in the pharmacy department and must demonstrate excellent interdisciplinary communication and leadership skills.
  • Serves as a role model and facilitates a professional customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties under the supervision of a pharmacist licensed in the State of Kansas. Works with pharmacy administration to comply with state and federal laws as well as other regulations.
  • Monitor for current or potential medication shortages and implement actions to mitigate in collaboration with Pharmacy leadership.
  • Assesses and maintains organization of medication inventory to comply with The Joint Commission standards, state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

Skills

  • High School Graduate
  • Bachelors Degree
  • 2 or more years experience as a pharmacy technician in a large hospital setting that offers comprehensive pharmacy services
  • Experience in pharmacy purchasing
  • Pharmacy Technician Registration
  • State Board of Pharmacy
  • Skills and duties may vary dependent upon your department or unit.
