About the role

  • The Technician coordinates with Operations to conduct soil sampling for verification that applicable release concentrations are met.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Function/source check Ratemeters and Detectors prior to use and after each days use.
  • Use GPS equipment to determine sample locations, boundary lines and similar.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain project training, including specific training on the FSS Program and implementing procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience operating various vehicles, including offroad ATV/UTV-type vehicles.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to work independently in compliance with explicit written procedures.
  • Must be over 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid driver license.
  • Ability to pass U.S. Government employment background check and acquire U.S. Government Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential card.

Nice to have

  • Current 40 Hour HAZWOPER qualification is desired
  • training will be provided if not current.
  • Experience conducting soil samples.
  • Experience on radioactive construction/remediation sites using hand tools and personal protective clothing.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, squat, climb and talk or hear, in hot and cold environments.
  • The employee is often required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The work is conducted primarily outdoors.

Skills

  • Ability to work independently in compliance with explicit written procedures.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely to obtain soil samples.
  • Ability to work on uneven, outdoor working surfaces in all types of weather.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer applications, including e-mail, word processing, training programs and similar computer applications.
