About the role

  • We're looking for a Staff Backend Software Engineer to help define the architectural future of Procurify's core platform.
  • This is a high leverage role with a clear and broad mandate.
  • Mentor & Elevate the Team: Teach and mentor technical leaders at Procurify.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively drive architecture decisions that align with product strategy and advise Procurify's leadership team on critical technical considerations.
  • You will collaborate with your team on technical designs to ensure they follow appropriate patterns, are architecturally sound, and improve the implementation of our backend systems.
  • Apply your experience to design, develop, and maintain the RESTful APIs and backend services that form the foundation of our product, using Python and Django.
  • You will work across the stack to consistently deliver software that helps Procurify set and achieve a high standard of quality, clarity, and maintainability.
  • Brings rigor, collaboration, and a strong quality focus to deliver high-performing solutions and raise the bar for outcomes.

  • Build & Ship Scalable APIs and Services: Apply your experience to design, develop, and maintain the RESTful APIs and backend services that form the foundation of our product, using Python and Django.

Requirements

  • You must have practical, hands-on experience accelerating development with AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance multiple competing priorities while solving challenging problems.
  • Python Proficiency: Strong experience building and maintaining applications using Python and a major web framework (we use Django and FastAPI).
  • Problem Solver: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance multiple competing priorities while solving challenging problems.

Compensation

  • $160,000- $200,000 CAD (This range is dependent on experience and not inclusive of any commission, benefits or equity that might exist in your total compensation package.)
