About the role

  • We are open to hiring either an Associate Acquisitions Editor or an Acquisitions Editor, depending on experience level, who will be based in our New York City office.

Responsibilities

  • Solicits, assesses, and develops book proposals
  • Maintains and develops a circle of external reviewers and advisors and evaluates their judgments.
  • Manages and develops a selection of astronomy and related book series.
  • Develops guidelines, plans, reporting systems, etc., for publishing plans and projects.

Requirements

  • Pursues an active and efficient acquisitions policy through correspondence, required meetings/trips, telephone, consultations with advisors, etc.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field required
  • advanced degree (MSc or PhD) ideal.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel

Compensation

  • Associate Editor - $66,300 - $75,000 / Editor - $80,000 - $90,000.
  • The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level, and equity.
  • The US salary range does not align with the salary ranges in other countries when converted to the currency of that country.
