About the role

  • The goal of a Systems Safety Engineer at Wisk is to accurately assess risk to inform decision-making which results in an appropriate level of safety.
  • The System Safety Engineer employs qualitative and quantitative risk assessment methods to determine the likelihood and severity of hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform safety assessments for one or more aircraft systems in accordance with SAE ARP4761A (FHA, FTA, CCA/CMA, FMEA)
  • Define appropriate safety targets using airworthiness regulations and guidance material such as 14 CFR 2X.1309 for developmental aircraft and systems and develop safety mitigation strategies.
  • Liaise with airworthiness authority and Designated Engineering Representative to validate safety targets.

Requirements

  • B.S. in a relevant engineering discipline with at least 2 years of related experience
  • or an advanced degree without experience
  • Understanding and experience with design safety engineering principles for safety critical systems.
  • Experience with ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160, ARP4761, MIL-STD-882, or similar standards

Compensation

  • $101,000 - $127,000 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.

  • You will be part of the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety & Security (RAMS) engineering team that partners with Integrated Product Teams, Quality, and Certification to assess and help improve the safety, reliability, maintainability, and security of Wisk's Gen 6 product; capture operating and maintenance expectations for continued safety and reliability; and identify, communicate, and continuously evaluate product safety risk.
  • This is a hybrid work opportunity.
