About the role

  • Assists instructors in the shop, on an as-needed, when-available basis.
  • Supervises student workers assigned to her/his area.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and tools for Automotive Service Department.
  • Maintain purchase & repair orders in computerized ledgers; maintain department records.
  • Update and maintain service literature and information delivery systems.
  • Maintain and enforce environmental policies that relate to the automotive facilities and oversee the storage and disposal of laboratory generated "special waste".
  • Participate and support department and college goals and objectives.
  • Technical Office Support Staff Council (TOSSC)-AFT Local 604

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of experience as an automotive technician or a related field.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments, hand and power tools, specialized automotive service equipment and current office equipment.
  • Considerable judgment, initiative, and independent action in establishing or adapting work procedures to new situations are required.
  • Work requires knowledge of the policies and procedures within the Department and College Systems.
  • Complete required documents for parts and service operations.

  • Automotive Technology environment and physical demands.
  • Standard Automotive Technology equipment.
  • Duties are performed indoors in the usual Automotive Technology environment and/or outdoor environment.
