About the role
- The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining an efficient production schedule that aligns with customer demand, material availability, and manufacturing capacity while also managing key buying responsibilities, including reviewing material requirements, placing purchase orders, monitoring supplier performance, and ensuring timely delivery of materials.
- This role reviews system ‑ generated MRP recommendations, assigns production to appropriate kettles/work areas, sequences production orders, maintains accurate system records, and partners closely with operations, supply chain, quality, and suppliers to ensure material readiness, smooth schedule execution, and effective prioritization across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Document and maintain the daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Partner with supply chain, operations, and quality to resolve scheduling conflicts and ensure alignment with demand priorities.
- Place and manage purchase orders, confirm delivery dates, track shipment status, and proactively resolve any supply disruptions or delays.
- Maintain effective communication with suppliers to ensure reliability and responsiveness. Escalate and resolve any issues related to quality, lead time, or service.
- Collaborate closely with Planning, Scheduling, and Plant Operations teams to ensure materials are available to meet production requirements without overstocking.
- Ensure purchase order details, item master data, lead times, and pricing are accurate in the ERP system.
Requirements
- Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including Pivot Tables, Lookup functions, filtering, sorting, and data analysis.
- 3 - 7 years of scheduling or planning experience in a manufacturing environment (chemical manufacturing preferred).
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across multiple functions.
- Type of position - Full-time
- Hours a week: 40 hours

Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field preferred.
- 7 years of scheduling or planning experience in a manufacturing environment (chemical manufacturing preferred).
- Experience in chemical manufacturing, batch processing, or other process industries strongly preferred.
- Strong ERP/MRP system knowledge ( Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred ).
