About the role
- The Animal Care Technician (ACT) is responsible for the coordination, movement, and maintenance of facility equipment and supplies.
- Handle, restrain, and manipulate animals consistently, professionally, and with empathy.
Responsibilities
- Perform animal husbandry (cleaning, feeding, sanitation, enrichment, etc.) on a regular basis.
- Operate, maintain, and perform equipment tasks (e.g. cage washers, autoclave, cage movement) on a regular basis.
- Perform general facility cleaning, stocking, and inventory.
- Acts as support group for other departments (e.g., moving animals from building to building, cage changes, bringing animals to necropsy, etc.).
Requirements
- High School Diploma and/or GED required
- Well developed interpersonal skills are required.
- Must be self-directed, motivated, and have a willingness to take the initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.
- Knowledge of MS Office suite and the ability to adapt easily to new software programs.
- and the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Nice to have
- Minimum 1 year of related experience
- previous animal experience is strongly preferred
- Relevant industry experience a plus.
- Ability to work cross functionally on process improvements.
Skills
- Complete training focused on general core skills for the area of work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation
- The pay range estimated for this position is $20.00 - $26.00 hourly.
