Requirements

  • The qualified candidate must have a bachelor's degree in business or public administration, behavioral or social/human services, or a closely related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in criminal justice or a court environment.
  • (These must be verifiable.)
  • The qualified candidate must have Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) certification or have the ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • (These must be addressed in your cover letter.)
  • Experience conducting interviews to obtain personal and/or financial information.
  • Experience communicating effectively, orally and in writing, with people in emotionally charged and stressful situations.
  • Experience with a high volume of data entry using a personal computer to access and input information and complete various tasks.

Skills

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Experience with public speaking in a courtroom, including documenting court orders
  • Experience with a case management system
  • Experience with the Odyssey case management system
  • Experience working within a correctional facility
  • Working Conditions
  • This position requires work during inclement weather events if it is deemed necessary to keep the court operational.
  • Traveling/walking between the courthouse and Clackamas County Sheriff's Office facilities.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma.
  • Long periods of sitting or standing while working at a computer.

Compensation

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $30.31 - $47.03, and the annual salary for this position is $63,050 - $97,822.
  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job.
  • In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD up to the fourth step of the salary range, depending on experience. You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.

  • Position Highlights
  • The Clackamas County Circuit Court is hiring a Release Assistance Officer.
  • In this role, you will determine pretrial release options for defendants by applying Oregon Revised Statutes, Chief Justice Orders, Presiding Judge Orders, and using risk assessment tools.
  • You will research and prepare reports for judges on adults in custody who are ineligible for release, including compiling criminal and FTA history using LEDS and OJD systems, verifying residence and employment, and determining current and past probation or parole status.
  • This job requires you to complete risk assessments.
  • You will verify information given and release adults in custody who meet criteria.
  • You will determine who, upon release, is most likely to appear in court, is not likely to commit new offenses, and does not pose a threat to the community or themselves.
  • Part of this position is attending court proceedings to testify to recommendations for release and other matters.
  • You will identify and prepare files that need to be added on dockets and correspond with other court staff.
