About the role

  • Do you like to look at challenging risks with a problem-solving mind?
  • Special Risk Insurance Managers is currently seeking a Senior Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our growing team, based out of our Langley or Vancouver, BC office.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain & grow the existing book of business.
  • Develop broker relationships by attending broker meetings, conventions & functions.

Requirements

  • An eye for detail to handle new business quotations with a high degree of accuracy
  • General Insurance license (or the ability to obtain within a certain time frame), Preference given to Level 2 license
  • 8+ Years Commercial underwriting experience. **Additional consideration given to candidates with prior MGA experience
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills to complete assignments efficiently and within structured timelines
  • Positive, driven, and disciplined attitude with a solutions focus
  • Self-motivated to meet competitive individual and team-related targets
  • Strong independent work ethic
  • Ability to work harmoniously in a team environment & collaborate with teammates
  • Strong written language, and professional communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook
  • Level 1

Nice to have

  • CAIB, CIP, CRM, FCIP or working towards a finalizing a designation is preferred

Compensation

  • 75000 - 100000 Annual
  • Actual salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and work location.
  • Package may include base pay, commissions, and/or bonuses.
