Responsibilities
- Performs tasks such as large asphalt patching, road grading, hauling material and equipment, asphalt overlay, drain and trench cleaning, excavation and backfill.
Requirements
- Considerable knowledge of City of Aurora Street System/Snow and Ice Control Plan
- Knowledge of safety practices common to the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of the practices and techniques of heavy equipment operation and maintenance
- Applicants selected for safety-sensitive positions are required to complete and pass a drug screening as a condition of employment.
Skills
- Construction/Trade skills
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
- Skill in the operation of heavy equipment related to street maintenance and construction.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Understand and follow complex instructions relative to job assignments to include temporary traffic control plans.
- Understand oral and written instructions.
- Operate various types of maintenance and construction equipment.
- Being able to organize crew and equipment for emergencies.
- Supportive team player with a positive attitude and ability to adapt to change
- Strong commitment to safety.
