About the role

  • The Weitz Company is looking for an experienced Project Superintendent to be located in our Iowa Business Unit leading Data Center Projects in Des Moines, IA.
  • This position typically reports to the most senior Project Manager on the job.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain project safety in accordance with the Company's Safety Policy
  • Develop and update the project schedule, resource allocation, and work processes
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, manage their performance, and ensure they adhere to contract requirements and safety protocols
  • Identify and resolve issues promptly and effectively to maintain project momentum and project schedule
  • Implement and enforce strict safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and subcontractors
  • Maintain strong communication with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate cost reports
  • Provide opportunities to help the team develop, learn, and grow

Requirements

  • The Senior Project Superintendent is responsible for the profitable field operations on complex, large projects after demonstrating ability to successfully complete smaller projects.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is completed, accurate, and timely
  • The Company is a drug and alcohol-free workplace and background checks are required if applicable.

Nice to have

  • 8+ years of Project Superintendent experience required
  • Commercial construction experience working for a general contractor (GC) is required
  • Experience in Data Center Construction is strongly preferred

Skills

  • Ability to read/interpret construction documents
  • Knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • Excellent project organizational skills
  • Business acumen and relationship building skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels of the organization
  • Proficient in basic computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to learn specific job-related software upon hire
