About the role
- The Housing Manager reports to the Director of Capital Infrastructure & Asset Management, who provides executive oversight, capital planning leadership and approval of the Five-Year Housing Strategy.
- ACCOUNTABILITY Housing Operations, Service Delivery & Stock Management Coordinate day-to-day operations of the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Housing Program including allocations, tenancy administration, rent collection and arrears management.
- Ensure consistent, fair and culturally appropriate service to homeowners and tenants.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate tenant files, agreements and inspection records.
- Capital Planning & Program Support
- Support the Five-Year Housing Strategy and capital plan under the direction of the Director and Housing Committee.
- Coordinate planning and oversight of new housing builds, major renovations and CMHC-funded projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.
- Act as liaison with the Housing Society when it is established; maintain regular communication and ensure alignment between YG and the Society on housing objectives.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with homeowners, tenants, community members and external partners.
Requirements
- Knowledge and understanding of Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ community needs, culture, language and customs
- Draft policy recommendations for review by the Director, Housing Committee, Executive and Legislature as required.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Public Administration, Business, Housing Management, Social Sciences or related field
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in housing, property management or tenancy administration, including supervisory experience
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the BC Residential Tenancy Act and how it applies in First Nations and modern treaty contexts
- Experience administering budgets and working with finance teams on reporting and reconciliation
Nice to have
- Experience working with CMHC and ISC housing programs
- Training in conflict resolution, mediation or dispute resolution
- Familiarity with the Maa-nulth Final Agreement and Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government laws and policies
- Project management training or certification
- Strong knowledge of BC tenancy law and First Nations housing programs
- Proven leadership and people-management skills
- Sound financial literacy and budget management
- Policy development and implementation skills
Compensation
- Band 7 ($81,731 - $122,596)
