About the role
- Telesat is headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, and has offices and facilities around the world.
- The company's state-of-the-art Satellite fleet consists of 12 GEO satellites, the Canadian payload on ViaSat-1 and one LEO 3 demonstration satellite.
- This role requires technical knowledge to interact with the other engineers and pragmatic judgement regarding scoping work and prioritizing tasks.
Responsibilities
- Manage the development and execution of Change Requests and Change Notices that affect System Engineering owned requirement documents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of requirement specifications, and requirement management strategies.
- Collaborate with technical personnel on assessing technical issues, and developing strategies to address the technical issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in systems, communications, space systems, electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience relating to the defined responsibilities.
- Experience and expertise in formal, standards-based Systems Engineering should be highlighted in the application.
Skills
- Proficiency in systems engineering and requirements management principles.
- Proven ability to manage schedules and technical deliverables.
- Working knowledge and experience with requirements management software (such as JAMA or DOORS) is required, JAMA preferred.
- Familiarity with and exposure to space-based or defence Systems Engineering Processes such as ECSS and NASA.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to present complex ideas to a more general audience.
- Committed to excellent work products.
- Ability to manage several complicated issues simultaneously
- Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience or familiarity is an asset
