About the role

  • Whisper Aero is seeking a Project Engineer who will work with cross-functional engineering teams within Whisper to coordinate timing and execution of projects onsite in Crossville or Nashville, Tennessee.
  • The successful candidate will be someone with a strong background in executing multi-system aerospace projects and thrives in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment.
  • They will have a passion for excellence and be able to clearly communicate with stakeholders, including engineers and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Build project schedules, highlight critical paths, and foresee future blockers utilizing engineering experience and systems thinking
  • Lead standups for testing teams
  • Build out requirements, milestones, and risk management strategies
  • Use agile management tools to plan sprints, track progress, and maintain documentation across teams

Requirements

  • US Citizenship status is required, as this position may access export-controlled data
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering, or a related field
  • Requires a minimum of 3years of professional engineering experience in a test related role within the aerospace or defense industry
  • Proven hands-on background with hardware development
  • Proven track record defining, organizing, and tracking multi-system aerospace projects
  • Proven systems level thinking across aerospace technical disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse technical teams
  • Proficiency with agile project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or equivalent for planning, tracking, and communication
  • Familiarity with AI tools (not just ChatGPT, Claude, or an AI notetaker).

Nice to have

  • Working knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to aircraft, engines, electric machines, and electronics
  • Experience with aircraft engines or electric drivetrains
  • Experience with modern requirements management software
  • FAA pilot certification
