About the role
- Payroll Specialist to process the organization's weekly payroll functions (in house from beginning to end), ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately and in compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, pleasant phone manner, efficient typing ability (data entry), and familiarity with Microsoft Office are a requirement.
- Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include the following.
Responsibilities
- Setup and maintain employee payroll records (union and non-union) into the accounting system.
- Maintain utmost confidentiality of company information.

Requirements
- This individual must have strong analytical thinking skills, an attention to detail with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines, and most importantly, the ability to retain confidential information.
- In accordance with business continuity protocols, must be able to manually calculate payrolls and ensure accuracy in all computations in the event of a system interruption.
- Perform additional assignments as required by the company as directed.
- To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

- Minimum of 3 years working, preferably in the construction industry.
- Extensive in-house payroll processing experience is required.
- Familiarity with Windows based operating systems and web-based applications.

- Must demonstrate ability to analyze and solve problems.
Nice to have
- Working knowledge of the construction industry, operations management, and safety practices, as well as knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines is a plus.
- Prior union payroll experience a plus.
- Certified Payroll Professional designation a plus.
Skills
- Reconcile large volumes of data using database queries and Microsoft Excel.
- Computer Skills Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel formulas and formatting.
Compensation
- Prepare weekly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax payments, reconciliations, and tax documents.
