About the role

  • This position operates within an Indigenous-led and Indigenous-governed organization that is accountable to the communities it serves.
  • Work is grounded in the principle of Indigenous Health in Indigenous Hands, ensuring that all programs and services are developed, delivered, and evaluated under Indigenous governance structures and community direction.
  • This position is being posted in response to an existing vacancy at the Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support in the areas of employee relations, performance management and special projects as assigned.
  • Ensures all employee documents are saved and organized uploaded within BANAC's internal electronic filing systems.
  • Assists with the administration of BANAC's performance management process by creating, revising, tracking and managing all applicable documents including Job Description documents, while ensuring applicable timelines are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring confidentiality and filing accuracy of all HR related documents in a timely manner.
  • Assists with the preparation of employee training including documentation, resources, set up and support.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 to 4 years of professional human resources experience is required.
  • Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Must be computer literate with previous professional experience with HRIS systems, Adobe PDF, M365 applications (excel specifically), including SharePoint and Teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or in a related discipline, or diploma / certification in Human Resources Management from a recognized accredited institution is required.
  • A member in good standing with the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA) is required.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
  • Must be able to work independently within the discretion of the position, with support from the Director of Human Resources.
  • Prepares employee letters including employment verifications and other employee documentations as required.
  • Valid Class G Ontario Driver's License is required
  • An up-to-date clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience working in or with Indigenous communities is strongly preferred.
  • A CHRP designation is strongly preferred.
