Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain database environments, including AWS RDS, Amazon DocumentDB, MongoDB, and other database platforms, ensuring reliability, availability, and operational readiness.
- Implement and support database replication, high-availability, and disaster recovery solutions, including failover configurations, replication strategies, and recovery testing to meet recovery point objectives.
- Manage database snapshots, storage optimization, and lifecycle processes to ensure efficient resource utilization and prevent failures related to storage exhaustion or backup interruptions.
- Collaborate with Architecture, DevSecOps, and engineering teams on database configuration management, change control, security practices, and infrastructure improvements.
- Perform database platform maintenance activities, including version management, software upgrade planning, and monthly compliance reporting to identify and remediate unsupported or out-of-compliance database versions.
- Design, implement, and manage enterprise database administration programs supporting business applications, data services, and organizational requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and validate database backup, recovery, and snapshot processes, including scheduled backups (15-minute, daily, monthly, and long-term), retention policies, restoration testing, and recovery procedures aligned with SLA requirements.

Requirements
- Candidates should possess: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience administering production databases in AWS environments (e.g., RDS, DocumentDB, ElastiCache)
- candidates without a degree must have at least 9 years of relevant experience.
- Experience supporting disaster recovery procedures with defined Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) targets.
- Experience supporting highly available production database environments with strict uptime/incident-free availability targets.
- The ability to travel, as needed, to customer sites.
- Must have US Citizenship.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Nice to have
- The ideal candidate will bring: Experience with multi-region database replication strategies and data consistency models.
- Experience across both relational and NoSQL platforms (e.g., MongoDB, DocumentDB) alongside streaming/analytics services (e.g., Kinesis, MSK, Athena).
- Experience evaluating cross-region data transfer costs and storage cost tradeoffs for replicated data.
- Familiarity with VA or other federal compliance requirements affecting data storage and recovery.
- Experience supporting or contributing to software version posture reporting for database platforms.

Compensation
- Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
