About the role

  • The Middle School Social Studies Teacher, 6th-8th Grade, is responsible for supporting students' success by ensuring the school day structure runs efficiently.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students.
  • This is a 10-month position that is supervised by a member of the school leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and instructional methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Our schools are supported by a non-profit partner to provide holistic services to the school, including out-of-school time, our social work project, and Head Start.
  • We do it by ensuring our students have access to complete support both in and out of the classroom through a talented team of teachers, leaders, social workers, and partners.

Requirements

  • B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution;

  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls, and answer emails.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs, and student organizations as directed.
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and a variety of individualized needs
  • Previous experience working with children preferred
