About the role

  • We're looking for a hands-on Field Service Engineer who's ready to dive into the world of marine and industrial power systems.
  • If you enjoy solving real-world problems, working with your hands, and being the go-to expert when things need fixing or fine-tuning, this might be the role for you.
  • You'll be installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining everything from motors and switchgear to PLCs and control systems aboard large ocean-going vessels while they're in port.

Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering Bachelor's degree or a combination of a relevant certificates, Associate or Technical degree and 4-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb up/down ladders and stairs, including on uneven, moving, or slippery surfaces.
  • Ability to remain focused, composed, and effective in high‑pressure or stressful situations.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
  • Ability to read Schematics.
  • Proficiency in installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
  • Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to operate tools, machinery and repair equipment and lift at least 40 pounds unassisted.
  • Self‑motivated and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility and ownership, consistently taking proactive action in tasks, assignments, and unexpected situations.
  • Skills & Competencies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Electrical/Mechanical aptitude, advanced skills in one or more of the following areas a plus: software, electronics, low and high voltage electrical, mechanical and propulsion systems, automation, PLC programming, Ethernet network/Serial communication.
  • Ability to write reports, effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of low voltage and line voltage AC and DC systems and relays, high voltage experience including terminations a plus.
  • Basic hydraulic and machine repair knowledge a plus.
