About the role

  • In this position you will be working with an engineering project team in the development of an automated warehouse or parcel sortation system.
  • It also involves working closely with stakeholders from other disciplines and other departments to balance priorities, improve processes and satisfy a complex set of goals.
  • A successful candidate will demonstrate a keen intuition for problem solving and have the knowledge and skills to help other team members to solve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop code compliant electrical systems that meet the customer specifications and regulations
  • Peer review designs created by other engineers to ensure compliance to customer specifications and regulations
  • Optimize the system functionality from as-sold to a working electrical design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Mechanical, Controls, Supply Chain, Installation, etc.)
  • Perform and review system and component level calculations to size components and equipment for the application (conductor sizing, voltage drop, motor starters, overcurrent and short circuit protection, control panels, control networks, etc.)
  • Engineering of project specials needed for non-standard design applications
  • Use software tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Word, Excel, etc.) to develop the electrical designs such as wiring diagrams, termination lists, Bill of Materials, etc.
  • Document all engineering decisions through design plans, complete and clear installation files, and engineering instructions directed to a site supervisor and installation subcontractor
  • Support the installation and commissioning both on site, and from the Marietta, GA office
  • Project document control using a rights based database system

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Minimum of 8 years of related work experience (or Associate EE/ET with 12 years related experience)
  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically up to 25% with occasional international opportunities
  • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is natural
  • Ability to work autonomously or in a team
  • Motivator and ability to work well with team members
  • Ability to quickly assess a situation and take appropriate action
  • Must have the ability to properly prioritize work/activities
  • Possess a strong ability to solve problems and research solutions
  • Experience in project management or leading teams
  • Knowledge/experience with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Occupational Safety and Health Standards
  • Knowledge/experience with NFPA 70E
  • Knowledge/experience with NFPA 79
  • Knowledge/experience with UL 508A
  • Knowledge/experience with ISO 13849-1
  • Experience designing UL rated control cabinets, designing low voltage power distribution systems, experience working with and programming PLCs
