- Utilities face urgent demand to replace inefficient legacy systems while managing increasing operational complexity, and evolving customer expectations.
- Position Overview SpryPoint is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team on a 12-month contract.
Responsibilities
- Create, update, and manage user guides, release notes, and other technical documentation to support SpryPoint's product offerings.
- Work closely with product managers, developers, and customer support teams to gather information and understand the intricacies of our products.
- Establish and maintain templates, guidelines, and best practices for technical documentation.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a software or technology-related environment.
- Experience with Customer Information Systems, Work and Asset Management, or Customer Self-Serve applications would be beneficial.
- Experience in the Utilities Industry is helpful, but not required.
- Strong understanding of software development processes and ability to comprehend technical concepts quickly.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field is desirable
- however, equivalent real-world experience with technical writing for a software company is also welcome.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- 2-5 years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a software or technology-related environment. Experience with Customer Information Systems, Work and Asset Management, or Customer Self-Serve applications would be beneficial. Experience in the Utilities Industry is helpful, but not required.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience writing documentation in Markdown using a docs-as-code workflow, as well as proficiency with traditional documentation tools such as Google Docs, Snagit, and Microsoft Word. ( We currently use a mix of both and are moving toward docs-as-code as our primary workflow)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field is desirable; however, equivalent real-world experience with technical writing for a software company is also welcome.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Agile development practices and experience in writing documentation in an Agile environment.
- Experience with Git-based documentation tools (e.g., Markdown, GitHub/GitLab) is a strong plus, as we're actively transitioning our workflow in this direction.
- While not required, this helps us confirm your professional background and accelerates our review process.
