Requirements

  • Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
  • Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental studies/science, biology, natural resources, cultural resources or a closely related field.
  • Experience in applying requirements of Chapter 31 of the San Francisco Administrative Code.

  • About the Environmental Management Group
  • As part of the SFPUC's Infrastructure Division, Environmental Management Group (EMG) manages California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) approvals for SFPUC's capital projects in collaboration with the San Francisco Planning Department (CEQA lead agency) and various federal agencies (NEPA lead agency).
  • EMG also acquires resource agency permits (e.g., U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Regional Water Quality Control Board, California Department of Fish and Wildlife) and ensures environmental compliance during construction.
  • With a variety of power, water, and sewer infrastructure from O'Shaughnessy Dam in Yosemite National Park to the San Francisco Bay, our team enjoys working on diverse projects across urban, agricultural, and natural landscapes.
  • About the Position
  • The Manager of the Environmental Management Group (EMG) at the SFPUC directs all California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental review and resource agency permitting for projects of the Water, Wastewater, and the Power Enterprises.
  • This position is within the Infrastructure Division, responsible for delivery of the SFPUC Capital Plan, valued at approximately $12.5B over 10 years.
