About the role

  • We are seeking a highly skilled, independent, and detail-oriented Silicon Photonics Designer and Tester Engineer to join our team.
  • Set up and operate both manual and automated testing equipment for optical measurements.
  • Assemble and adjust mechanical setups for photonics and optical experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and test silicon photonic integrated circuits (PICs) at the die level.
  • Develop and work with opto-mechanical setups that include lasers, optical fibers, electrical probes, polarization controllers, and other optical and electrical equipment to evaluate and characterize photonic devices.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and scientists across multiple projects, demonstrating flexibility in adapting to new tasks.
  • From time to time, we may use technology to support elements of our hiring process.

Requirements

  • Master or PhD degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in silicon photonics design and testing.
  • Hands-on experience with testing at the die level, optical fibers, electrical probes, and polarization experiments.
  • Proficiency in device simulations and data analysis.
  • Experience with layout design for photonic devices.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as MATLAB, Python, and Ansys Lumerical.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaborative and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in working with both manual and automated test equipment.
  • High attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in data collection and reporting.

Nice to have

  • Experience with manual and automated optical test setups.
  • Familiarity with optical alignment and laser safety procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in an R&D environment.

The successful candidate will have a Master or PhD degree in Engineering Physics or Electrical engineering and at least 2 years of experience in silicon photonics design and testing, supporting various research and development projects in a collaborative laboratory environment.
