About the role
- We are seeking a highly skilled, independent, and detail-oriented Silicon Photonics Designer and Tester Engineer to join our team.
- Set up and operate both manual and automated testing equipment for optical measurements.
- Assemble and adjust mechanical setups for photonics and optical experiments.
Responsibilities
- Design and test silicon photonic integrated circuits (PICs) at the die level.
- Develop and work with opto-mechanical setups that include lasers, optical fibers, electrical probes, polarization controllers, and other optical and electrical equipment to evaluate and characterize photonic devices.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and scientists across multiple projects, demonstrating flexibility in adapting to new tasks.
- From time to time, we may use technology to support elements of our hiring process.

Requirements
- Master or PhD degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in silicon photonics design and testing.
- Hands-on experience with testing at the die level, optical fibers, electrical probes, and polarization experiments.
- Proficiency in device simulations and data analysis.
- Experience with layout design for photonic devices.
- Proficiency in software tools such as MATLAB, Python, and Ansys Lumerical.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaborative and communication skills.
- Proficiency in working with both manual and automated test equipment.
- High attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in data collection and reporting.
Nice to have
- Experience with manual and automated optical test setups.
- Familiarity with optical alignment and laser safety procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in an R&D environment.
