About the role
- The typical work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. This is a grade 33, non-bargaining, exempt position located at Central Services in Rockville.
- Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity.
- The maximum salary for this position is $151,740 annually.
Responsibilities
- As the College's in-house electrical engineering expert, you will lead electrical design for new construction and renovation projects and support projects through construction completion.
- Developing complete electrical design documents including power and lighting plans, lighting schedules, riser diagrams, and specifications suitable for permitting and construction.
- Meeting users to determine electrical requirements for each project, investigating existing conditions, researching existing designs, and advising the College architect of any electrical problems discovered.
- Inspecting construction while in process to ensure it is completed in accordance with designs.
- Providing technical advice on design and construction needs to other college units.
- Developing capital replacement plans in collaboration with the College Architect and Director of Planning, Engineering and Capital Budgets.
- Montgomery College is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert for electrical design across 3 multi-building campuses.
- Under the supervision of the College Architect, this role is responsible for power and lighting designs and the supervision of in-house and contracted construction of electrical, lighting, and low-voltage building and control systems.
- This position is ideal for a licensed professional who enjoys owning projects end-to-end, partnering closely with internal clients, and seeing their designs move from concept to construction.
- Ability to perform photometric calculations for lighting designs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible experience in electrical engineering for buildings.
- Strong working knowledge of energy conservation and sustainable strategies, electrical and life safety codes, lighting and fire safety alarms, and construction methodologies.
- Required Licenses and Certifications
- Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable).
Nice to have
- LEED Green Associate (GA) certification
- LEED Accredited Professional (AP) certification
Compensation
- $86,709 - $119,224 annually.
- Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity.
- The maximum salary for this position is $151,740 annually.
